Mother's Day is here! I got a wonderful card and necklace from Eloise and i decided to make my Mummy some yummy cakes. Lemon cake is my Mum's favourite so they were lemon sponge with lemon icing. The design was a simple garden with the icing piped green and little sugar blossoms on top. A sprinkle of glitter finished them off. They would also have looked nice at easter with little piles of mini eggs stacked up and some baby chicks on the grass! You may have spotted my new favourite item the metallic cupcake cases making an appearance again! Love you Mum xx

 Question: What cake do you make a 60 year old who loves Liquorice Allsorts?
Answer: One covered in Liquorice Allsorts in the shape of a 60! Happy birthday to my Father in law Geoff! Eloise's first birthday party was the perfect excuse to make a cake! I went for a two tiered pink theme with a striped bottom tier, sugarpaste flowers and a little sparkly fairy on top. I added 2 dozen cupcakes to the display with co-ordinating decoration. I was dissapointed with the result of the gingham check cupcake cases as the mixture showed through a lot and obsured the pattern - i will not be using them again (They were from Hobbycraft) The cake took far longer than expected resulting in a 3am finish but it looked great on the day and tasted good too!    |
